An attempt on Mt Marcy, NY |
 Cindy Jobling took the photograph on the left at 11:39 am on Thursday, 27 October, of Kristin Emerson coming down off Mt Marcy after they’d turned round. It can be compared directly with the previous picture of mine, which was taken at 12:45 pm the following day and which I’ve cropped and put on the right, alongside Cindy’s picture. The snowfall that had occurred overnight resulted in the trees that are both beside and above the rocks having a noticeably thicker covering of rime ice. The times at which the two pictures were taken also show how rapidly Cindy and Kristin had climbed the mountain. They were both very fit. |
