The Larapinta Trail, 2023 |
 Day 1 (Friday, 28 April 2023) – The Ormiston Pound Walk: I used the MapMyWalk app on my cell phone to track each day’s walk that we did. When I got back to New Zealand, I transferred each day’s data onto my computer and superimposed the GPS-plotted route onto a satellite photograph of the area. This is a vivid illustration of our 28 April hike. It’s so detailed and accurate that you can, for instance, see exactly where we waded through deep water in the gorge (i.e., just past the 8-kilometre mark) and crossed over onto the true right bank of the Ormiston Creek (which is the name of the river that flows through the Ormiston Gorge). |
