Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
 On Saturday, 14 December 1985, Philipp and I left the Kibo hotel at 9:20 am and travelled in vans and matatus (taxis) via Moshi and Arusha to the Tanzania-Kenya border at Namangu, where Philipp took this picture looking back at Tanzania, before we caught another matatu to Nairobi, which we reached at 7:30 pm. For a range of reasons, it had been a harrowing ten hours – so much so that I didn’t take one photograph the entire day! |
