The fact that Sweden has had only seven prime ministers in the past 41 years is a testament to the stability that characterises Swedish politics (New Zealand, by way of contrast, has had 12 prime ministers during the same period). The only Swedish prime minister since 1969 that I have not photographed was Ola Ullsten, who led a short-lived minority Liberal government in 1978-79 that held only 39 of the 349 seats in the Swedish Riksdag. |
